West Hill is a classic Surrey heathland course which comfortably and rightly sits in all the Top 100 lists covering the UK and Ireland. Designed in 1907 by Cuthbert Butchart, who also worked on Hunstanton and West Byfleet, the course is lined with towering pines and features the Brookwood brook on six of the holes.
Although the layout has changed little over the years a rigorous programme managed by our Course Manager, Ben Edwards and his Green Keeping team has encouraged the heather to flourish and this coupled with many strategically placed bunkers ensure the course is a challenge to all level of golfer. Strategic play is key to playing West Hill well and the greens have some of the most difficult natural undulations you will ever play.
The West Hill name may be misleading as the land is made up of gentle contours and with short walks from greens to tees ensures a round at West Hill is a pleasure not a chore. To cap it all the course is kept in superb condition and through the summer plays in the fast-running style of proper heathland golf.
